She Likes It! Princess Petunia Models her New "Tooth Fairy" Pettiskirt

Aw, now doesn't that make it all worthwhile?  Janice the Manice sent pictures of Princess Petunia trying on her pettiskirt with her pajamas after bath time.  My sister also sent me a video of the Princess trying to cast a spell on mommy, beating her with the pretty magic wand.  Don't mess with the Tooth Fairy!
As you can see, my efforts hand-stitching the little ribbon flowers were pretty much a waste -- once the kid started twirling, the chiffon layers shifted and the ribbon flowers got lost in the mass of chiffon.  So next time I'd either have to sew on a LOT more flowers to make sure they are visible, or else move them up higher , maybe to the bottom of the satin waistband tier.
The waistband is a bit too big, too, so Janice cinched it with a hair clip.  If I was there in person, I could open up the waistband through that little elastic cave door and adjust it for her.  It would have been better to test fit the elastic to the princess before completing that step.

ADDED October 17, 2011:  I can't believe I never posted a picture of Princess Petunia wearing this pettiskirt for trick-or-treating last year!  I think she was the Tooth Fairy:

You might also want to think about "reusables" if you"re serious about going "green". I've purchased countless items from a web store www.reuseit.com and have been extremely satisfied with everything. They've got stainless steel water bottles which we've got in both grown up and kiddie sizes that have been really standing up to the test of time. I use one at work, the kids take watered down juice to school with them. It saves waste from juice boxes and plastic water bottles and is much cheaper in the long run. We really like the Klean Kanteen and Sigg brands. I've also invested in some Envirosax for grocery shopping which not only have some fabulous designs on them, but they are very sturdy and hold much more than your typical plastic bag that will rip on a box of Cheerios. You also save a few cents per bag at most checkouts. If your really interested, I actually purchased a set for Mom last year for Mother's Day or some other holiday. Her designs are nice and flowery. I've also been looking into reusable sandwich and snack baggies for the kids lunches. We go thru so many these days. This site has some great child friendly designs and I'm just waiting for the go ahead from hubby dearest before I place my order. I think you'll find there are countless options to be stylish and green all at the same time, oh, and you'll be saving even more money along the way. So in your free time, of which I know you have none, check out some of the items they carry. You might be suprised.

Yes, she does really, really like it! I'm thinking over options for making the waist a little smaller.. like opening up the skirt and reworking the elastic but I'm also mulling over the idea of adding some cute adjustable suspenders, that way she"ll have room to grow. I'm not sure yet. Either way, she asks for the "Tooth Fairy" skirt multiple time throughout the day and is ready to cast her spell. THANK YOU!

Janice: Please don't put suspenders on the skirt. It will be easy to take in the elastic because it's loose inside the casing -- just open up that little hole that I hand stitched shut. I'll bet the dry cleaner's alteration person will do it for less than $10 if you don't want to do it yourself.

When her waist gets that much bigger she will also be TALLER, and hopefully this pettiskirt will be all ragged and worn out by then anyway so she will need a NEW pettiskirt, probably a red one or a cheetah print. This one is supposed to fit right now.

Okay, I"ll adjust the waistband. Point taken.

Princess Petunia is absolutely adorable! No problem about the waist being a little too big - that just means she gets to enjoy her skirt longer. :0)

Miranda: Yes, I'm stark raving mad. Shh, don't tell anyone... By the way, I take it as the highest compliment to be called crazy by a woman who staged her own impromptu fashion shoot at a Home Depot. Methinks it takes one to know one! :-)
